NEW – 21W ballasts with AC Technology

General description

Xenlight 3rd generation slow start ballasts are primarily designed to run up short arc HID lamps with minimum current in order to prolong life time of the bulbs especially 21W drop style bulbs. Our ballasts are fully computerized to meet all standards for xenon HID lighting systems.

Ballast Main Features:

  • Low Electro Magnetic Interferences. (Even with plastic housing).
  • Safety - No electric shock risk (no DC phase at startup, High frequency).
  • High efficiency - 90%, results in very low ∆T over wide range of operating conditions.
  • Fully computerized ballast.
  • LIN diagnostic interface (Local Interconnect Network CAN sub bus).
  • Dimmable ballast, analog or digital remote.
  • Active false input polarity protection.
  • Short output protection.
  • Open output protection.
  • Input over voltage switches off with automatic restart.
  • Input under voltage shut down.
  • Negative lamp supply voltage in respect of car ground.
  • Fast restart cycles.
  • Patent protected.
  • Custom made ballasts on request.

21W and 24W HID bulbs ideal for installation in existing small reflectors. The 21W bulb is minimum dimmable down to approx 15W. This bulb has very interesting properties in combination with Xenlight ballast like fast flicker free light run up and hot restart capability. No outer conductive free touchable electrode important for safety reasons. An ideal bulb for 2 wheeler applications like motor cycles or bikes and other portable systems. Smaller Xenlight ballast including all safety features will soon be available! This will enable to build up small "head" flashlight systems.

HID XENON spot light comparison

To turn light into "spot-light" is not that easy. It is important to make the light source as small as possible, ideally a spot. The reason for this is: the smaller the source of light is, the higher the flux of light density. Those new miniature short-arc lamps are definitely smaller in glowing arc size then the automotive "burners" D1S/D2S 35W.
24W HID bulb, powered by a Xenlight AC ballast driven with 21W supplies 2000 lm and even more, although the volume of the light bow is only 25 % of a "classic" D1S/D2S. The light density is 2.5 higher than of D1S/D2S lamps.

The new miniature short-arc lamps can easily be installed in low-priced (but good) chrome reflectors. The better and bigger the reflector is, the better the results are.
The differences as seen in the reproduction hereunder were compared under similar conditions.
